Important Notice:
This information page is for authors with at least 10 previously published works who are interested in contracting titles directly with Fictionwise as the publisher.
If you are an author with an eBook listed at Fictionwise through one of our partner publishers, please contact them for royalty information.
Fictionwise, Inc. contracts electronic rights to previously-published fiction works and sells them in eBook form, and we also distribute eBooks from other quality publishers and ePublishers.
Fictionwise does not accept unsolicited original works. We do not have an editorial team to assist authors with new works or evaluate new manuscripts.
What We Will Accept
Fictionwise seeks reprints of short stories and novels from established professional fiction authors.
Fictionwise will sell your works if you can offer a minimum of 10 reprints that are either novels published by established print publishers (not vanity presses or similar outfits that charge the author), or short fiction works published in major professional genre magazines, "Best of" collections, or anthologies published by established, non-vanity print publishers. We require a minimum of 10 reprints because of the considerable time and expense it takes to establish an author at Fictionwise and to market his or her works effectively.
All 10 titles must be in .RTF format and ready to publish before the New Author Request form is submitted. Fictionwise does not have an editorial staff, so ready to publish means the text and punctuation will not be changed after submission. It is strongly recommended that .RTF files be proofed by a professional. Submitted .RTF files that require editing will be rejected.
You must own the electronic rights to your titles and you must have them available in the electronic file format .RTF. All versions of Microsoft Word can save files as .RTF. We recommend you try to submit works that are over 5000 words.
Because Fictionwise contracts only the electronic publishing rights, authors retain the print rights to seek an ink-on-paper publisher. The Fictionwise author contract is exclusive--this means that electronic copies of your works must not be available for sale anywhere else on the internet for the duration of the contract.
If you meet the above requirements but your works only exist on printed paper, we suggest you contact a digital conversion service and proceed when your works are ready to send as .RTF files.
If you meet the above requirements and your 10 titles are ready to submit as .RTF files, please register (for free), then submit your author information.
