Charles R. Tanner
Bio: Charles R. Tanner (1896-74) was one of a handful of pioneering writers who penned stories for the first science fiction magazine, Amazing Stories, during the earliest years of its existence. His stories inspired writers of Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, and L. Sprague de Camp's generation, who were all young boys in the early-1930s when Tanner was most active. Notable classics by Tanner include: "The Color of Space" (1930), "The Revolt of the Machine Men" (1942), "Cham of the Hills" (1943), and "Mr. Garfinkle and the Leprechaun" (1953).However, Tanner was best remembered for his vigorous action-adventure series about Tumithak.

The battle between human beings and the sheiks remained with me, of course, and influenced me in my description of the battle (on a large scale) between human beings and the Lhasinu ... more info>> 2005
