Clare O'Brien
Bio: I'm Clare O'Brien and I'm a freelance writer and editor based at Coille Bheag, a croft in the western Highlands of Scotland.
As a journalist, I also write on literature, music, movies and lifestyle/culture -- and on the business side, food & drink and leisure/tourism. Read some published clips here.
I was a Londoner for many years, and my first non-fiction book Living and Working in London was published in January 2000. I'm currently working on my first novel The Waiting Room, and I've published a number of short stories and poems.
I also write lyrics and contribute musically to revolutionary new net-based music project Species 8742.
I originally worked as a high school teacher in England. I still tutor adult students on distance learning courses at The London School of Journalism and The Writers' Bureau, I'm a registered literacy course tutor for the learndirect initiative in the UK: see my book recommendations and tips for students.
I sometimes lead local classes and workshops - my latest was on Teleworking at Gairloch High School near my home, Coille Bheag in the Scottish Highlands.
