Dorothy Thompson
Bio: Dorothy Thompson is a freelance writer from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She knew at the age of eight when she constructed her first "book" from unlined notebook paper and string that she wanted to be an author. Throughout her childhood years, she dreamed of seeing her name not in lights, but on the cover of a children's book. Forty-some-odd years later, her dream is finally becoming a reality.
Dorothy writes for several ezines including Writers Exchange, Writers Manual, Webwriter News, Zinos, Suite 101, Words Of Wit, Authors Den, and many more. She is currently owner/editor of The Writer's Life (http://www.thewriterslife.homestead.com), an online writing ezine which manages submissions from aspiring writers.
She was awarded honorary mention in Athina Publishing's Silver Sword contest for her chilling poem, "Nobody's Child", and will be published in the Icedlatte Quarterly Journal in the fall.
After traveling much of her life as an army brat, Dorothy now lives in the quiet serenity of her birthplace with her daughter, son, fiancee, and her ever-so-lovable cocker spaniel, Cassie.
"No More Gooseberry Pie!" has been sitting and gathering dust, waiting for its debut as a children's book. It was Dorothy's dream of seeing this book published as a legacy to her children, who without them, this story would never have been told.
