Alert me when new Ellen Klages titles are added

What's this?

Bio: Ellen Klages divides her time between Cleveland, Ohio, and anywhere else. Her story, "Basement Magic" won the Nebula Award for Best Novelette in 2005. Her short fiction has appeared in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Black Gate, and SciFiction. Several of her stories have been on the final ballot for the Nebula and Hugo Awards, and have been reprinted in Hartwell and Cramer's Year's Best Fantasy #3 and #4. She was also a finalist for the John W. Campbell Award, and is a graduate of the Clarion South writing workshop. She has recently sold her first novel Green Glass Sea, about two eleven-year-old girls living in Los Alamos during the war, while mom and dad are building the bomb. In addition to her writing, she also serves on the Motherboard of the James Tiptree, Jr. Award, and is somewhat notorious as the auctioneer/entertainment for the Tiptree auctions. When she's not writing fiction, she sells old toys on eBay, and collects lead civilians.

5 A Taste of Summer [MultiFormat]
by Ellen Klages
As the title might hint, this is a very Bradburyan piece that slides between the boundaries of "science fiction" and "fantasy." Matty Rodgers is a nine-year-old girl summering in rural Michigan. During a thunderstorm, she takes refuge at the corner ice cream store, where she meets the proprietors' sister. Nan is a food chemist whose hobby is creating concoctions that go far beyond the ordinary 31 flavors. The writing is beautiful, and Klages has created characters so subtly and truly drawn that ... more info>> 2002 Nebula Award(R) Preliminary Ballot Nominee
