Howard Weinstein
 What's this?
Bio: Howard Weinstein's name may already be familiar to Star Trek fans
who buy books and read credits. His first Star Trek novel, The
Covenant of the Crown, was published in 1981 and became the first
original Star Trek novel to be reprinted in a special Science
Fiction Book Club hardcover edition. His 1987 Trek novel, Deep
Domain, climbed high on a number of bestseller lists, including
those of the New York Times, the Washington Post,
Newsday, Publishers Weekly, and the B. Dalton and
Waldenbooks bookstore chains.
In 1974, at age nineteen, Howard Weinstein became the youngest person to
write professionally for Star Trek, selling "The Pirates of
Orion" episode for the Emmy-winning animated revival of the show, which
aired on NBC-TV from 1973 to 1975.
He also received a screen credit for some story-development tidbits he
contributed to the making of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
His other writing credits include a trio of original novels based on the
NBC-TV science fiction series, V; articles and reviews in
Starlog magazine; columns in the New York Times and
Newsday; and award-winning radio public service announcements. He
has also written numerous slide shows presented at science fiction and
Star Trek conventions around the country.
Since 1976, Howard has made more than one hundred appearances at
conventions, universities, schools, and libraries. He lives in suburban
New York with Mail Order Annie, his short but faithful Welsh Corgi
(that's a dog). Annie occasionally tastes books by other authors, and
she often joins Howard for convention appearances. She will kiss fans
and shake hands, but she rarely signs autographs. When Annie starts
getting invited to conventions without him, Howard will know it's time
to change careers.
