Bio: Australian romance author, Joanie MacNeil writes short contemporary romances and the occasional short story. Her eighth novel, No Boundaries, will be published by Champagne Books in August 2005, and she has been offered a contract for her next novel, December Heat, also from Champagne Books. Joanie is coordinator of the Canberra Romance Writers, a member of Romance Writers of Australia and the ACT Writers Centre. Her dreams are to travel more and to live by the sea. Scotland is one of her favourite places. "Writing category romance was the last thing on my mind when I enrolled in a six week freelance writing course in 1994. Towards the end of the course, I'd decided freelance writing wasn't for me, and when we touched on writing romance novels, I was as hooked by the idea as I was by the historical romance books I'd begun to read only a couple of years before. Five years later saw the release of A Time For Love, followed by two releases that same year from DiskUs Publishing, A Traditional Affair and Desperate and Dateless.

Nine of the ten novels I’ve written have been published. Two of my books are set in Scotland and have Australian heroines. After visiting there, I couldn't resist the temptation to give my books a Scottish flavour. When I'm not involved in writing-related activities, I work full time, go to gym occasionally, and participate in a belly-dancing class once a week, with the occasional performance thrown in. If I think of myself as a belly-dancer and romance author, it sounds so exotic, much more exciting than working at my day job."
