Bio: Second generation Los Angeleno Mario Vacchi still lives in the southern half of the state, across from the house where he grew up. Today he nears the end of a long career in education that was preceded by a longer one in military intelligence and special operations. This combination of the academic and the tactical/strategic influences his writing and the characters who inhabit it. As devoted to books and orchids as he is to hunting, fishing and diving, Mario attempts to live the life of a latter-day Renaissance Man. Soldier, scholar, artist, bon vivant, he is basically running in morbid fear of boredom.
