Michel Nostradamus

Bio: Michel Nostradamus was born in 1503 in Provence to a Jewish family who had been forced to convert to Christianity. He obtained a license to practice medicine during the plague years. After the death from plague of his wife and children, he avoided a summons from the Inquisition and wandered for many years before remarrying and settling in Salon in 1550, where he and his second wife raised three sons and three daughters.
Nostradamus published “Prognostications” in 1554, and later the “Prophecies." He was summoned to the court of Henri II and Catherine de Medici in 1556, and eventually became "Physician in Ordinary" to the court. He died in 1566, having predicted the day of his death.
