Tim Wohlforth
Bio: Tim Wohlforth lives in Oakland, California and is a fulltime writer. He has had sixty-one short stories published in print magazines, anthologies, and on-line zines. He is a 2003 Pushcart Prize Nominee. He has received a Certificate of Excellence from the Dana Literary Society. A contemporary noir novel, No Time To Mourn, was published by Quiet Storm in April, 2004. Lee Child, New York Times best-selling author writes of this book, "Like a great twelve-bar blues--the comfort of a familiar form jazzed by a fresh key and an exciting new voice." He co-authored the non-fiction book, On The Edge: Political Cults Right and Left, published by M.E. Sharpe. He has participated in numerous short story panels at Left Coast Crime and Bouchercon Mystery conventions.

 Our protagonist finds himself lost in a rundown neighborhood. He stops short, almost running over a small emaciated dachshund. The dog's tag contains only her name, "Sophie," and a phone number. Not finding the neighborhood inviting for knocking on doors, he takes the dog home and calls the number. Regrettably the dog's owner turns up.
