Sasha Verochka wondered if this was one of those dreaded morning afters that she had so often heard other women talk about when they woke up full of recriminations over what, or more accurately, whom they had been doing. As far back as she could remember she had dealt with the severe migraines and the occasional seizure brought on by the continuous bombardment of people's thoughts. But then, after years of suffering, her nation's scientists had developed a drug which provided her with relief.

The drug worked by suppressing her telepathic abilities to the point that she could only hear and project thoughts within a very short distance. But, in that short distance, her gift could provide valuable Intel as far as Russia was concerned. All that was needed was for her superiors to get her in range to use her gifts. And a week ago they had brought her here and staged a meeting with her first mission.

They wanted to know why a discharged American Marine named Garrick Caldwell was in Russia. Sasha's director was convinced this man had been recruited by the CIA and her objective was to discover why. A mission that would be easy for a telepath who wasn't extremely attracted to her target, it seemed that she was proving her detractors right. She was too young for field work.

Garrick sensed that he was being watched. Turning his head, he saw those soft brown eyes starring at him with a strange mixture of emotion. Shifting to his side, he raised his head and rested it on his hand. He found himself drowning once again in those expressive eyes and he wondered how much longer he had with her? It wasn't nearly long enough, that was for sure. A girl like this deserved someone who could be with her forever. Unfortunately for Sasha, he wasn't that kind of man.

Moving his hand over her thigh, he ran it up her side, delighting in the way she shivered from his touch.
