Description: In the dim and distant past, the world of Velgrath was decimated by sorcerous wars. Lush land was laid waste and strange bewitched forests grew in their stead, inhabited by the magically created creatures once used to fight the wars. The remnant human population fled east--to the wilderness of the coastline, for it was here they could hope to survive, and rebuild the lives they once had. Humans, being what they are, survived, and the increasing population spread westward, taming the wilderness and building new kingdoms. Valdemar was one such kingdom. Founded by a Baron Valdemar--once of the Eastern Empire. He had chosen exile, rather than face the wrath of a tyrannical monarch. With him came those of his people, who chose exile, rather than to stay behind. Valdemar was on the most western and northernmost edge of the civilised world, surrounded at the north and the northwest by wilderness, and at the West--Lake Evendim, a huge inland sea. Because of the way Valdemar had been founded, the monarchs welcomed fellow exiles. Because of the mixture of different cultures, the one rule all monarchs of Valdemar governed their people by was "There is no 'one true way'."
