A Reaper's Tale [MultiFormat]
eBook by Adam Slade

eBook Category: Fantasy/Humor
eBook Description: Even Grim Reapers have bad days on the job. Mal has managed to stay out of the afterlife for 31 years, despite having been dead for the last three. He's a Grim Reaper, and while he may not be the most enthusiastic, he enjoys his "life" too much to give it up to death. But he's got a problem. A troubled young woman's soul becomes bonded to his, and a vicious demon is hired to retrieve it. If Mal can't get her soul free in a hurry, he's doomed to share her destination, whether it be heaven or hell.

Great Good OK Poor

Mal moaned as he came around. His whole body ached, and he could feel at least four separate fractures. He opened his eyes, which made no difference whatsoever. As he turned his head, a rough cloth shifted over his face.

"Why am I in a bag?"

"You're awake! Thank God! We need to get out of here, Mal."

"Here being..." He tried to stretch his arms out to the sides, but they clanged against some sort of wall. He could feel the cold of the metal through the material.

Amy sighed. "It's dark, you're in a cloth bag, and that bag is locked in a metal box. Granted, I've had a little longer to ponder the situation, but I had a lot less clues."

He groaned as it dawned on him. "Not again."

"Again?"

"Long story."

Wriggling down, Mal found the door to the cabinet with his bare feet. He braced his arms against the sides as best he could, and kicked out at the left side of the door. After what seemed like an age, there was a crack.

"Finally!"

Mal stopped kicking. "That was my foot."

"Oh."
