Casey nodded and buried her head into his shoulder. Wolf cupped her face in his palm; his earnest eyes captured hers. His thumb stroked her cheek. "I won't do that to you. I won't be mean or cruel to you. I won't beat you, sweetheart. I will be very gentle. Feel my hands, Casey; they are gentle. You will be fine, I promise."
His coaxing words penetrated her mind. Casey concentrated on what he was saying instead of the fear her friend had portrayed. Their circumstances were different. They were indeed alone; this wasn't some date that had gone horribly wrong. They needed each other to survive. They might be here for a very long time. She hadn't run from him, because she couldn't bear the thought of being alone. Would she be able to go for weeks and weeks or months without some type of human contact?
Wolf was not hurting her. For all his previous threats, he had never hurt her. Each night he had lain beside her, keeping her warm, safe. She had welcomed his large body beside her nightly, enjoying his comforting presence, wanting to feel his close proximity. She could feel the slight tingle of attraction she had been fighting grow. Wolf was an incredibly handsome man. He was whispering she was the most beautiful enchanting woman he had ever met.
His large, sensual hands were sweetly discovering her, not groping as an adolescent or overly enthusiastic sex fiend. He was being very gentle and patient, trying to discover what she liked. His large fingers threaded through her hair, bringing strands to his lips to kiss, telling her she smelt like sunshine and sweet wine. He paid more attention to the places he touched when she moaned instead of cringing from him or tensing. Even David had never been as caring or sensitive; the thought was so terribly confusing.
