His spirit soared. Without further delay, Booker eased into position, sliding one arm beneath her lower back while his free hand caressed the silky skin of her neck. Gently he turned her head slightly to the side. She closed her eyes, then entwined herself about him. He basked in the sensation of her arms around his neck and those killer legs locked behind his waist. Arousal rose fast until the uncomfortable tightening in his jeans felt rock hard. Regardless of his burning need to mate, he wouldn't make love to her until they were united in blood. No way did he want to lose his heart again. Once she belonged to him in spirit, then he'd take delight in her body.
"Zoe," he murmured against her neck. "Relax and let me sweep you away, babe."
At his words, he felt her body melt against his. She felt soft--supple--indescribable. Saliva flooded his mouth as his canines lengthened in excited anticipation of the bite. He hadn't had fresh blood in days as there had been no time to seek out a butcher shop. Killing animals was not something he'd do to slake his appetite and taking a human life would be even worse unless justified.
He could tell by her scent that Zoe's blood would be rich and oh-so-sweet!
Booker nipped and kissed until finding an ideal point of puncture on her creamy flesh. Upon securing just a spot, he sucked fervently to prepare the skin. She gasped and cried out when he bit down, his teeth sunk deep into the vein. The pungent taste of blood--her blood--filled his mouth and made his senses reel. Hungrily he drank, holding her tight against him, supporting her back and head with both hands. Their spirits joined with staggering intensity, delivering an instant high. He knew she felt it, too, even amidst the pain of his bite, as she was writhing and moaning beneath him.
