A practical person--or at least a sane one--would have been on the first plane bound for home after her traveling companion abandoned her, not driving through the French countryside in a miniature car, particularly since that companion had been, up until they'd arrived in London, her fiance.

Jasmine Daniels wasn't completely sure what had made her defy logic by continuing with her trip, but she was determined to see it through, no matter what obsticales might rear their ugly heads.

In one sense, she hadn't been terribly surprised by Bobby's abrupt departure. Bobby had not wanted to join her on the trip to begin with. More specifically, he'd seen no sense in her 'wasting' her inheritance on such a trip. When he'd failed to convince her to abandon the idea, he'd decided to join her, but he had not been a happy camper. He'd found fault with her, and everything else, from the time they'd left Raliegh until they'd arrived in London. They hadn't even settled in the hotel before he'd informed her that the engagement just 'wasn't working' for him. He needed a woman who would consider his career goals of ultimate importance--not one who would take off to another continent when he was right in the middle of working on an important deal-- a woman willing to sacrifice to help him meet his goals--a woman like his new girlfriend.

Jasmine was amazed that she didn't feel hurt at his admission, but she supposed it was just one shock too many.

She had originally planned to tour Europe with her mother. It had been her mother's lifelong dream to see England and France. Jasmine had never really understood her mother's yearning, but hadn't wanted to diminish her mother's enthusiam and had kept it to herself. It had been just the two of them as she grew up. Her mother had had to work two jobs just to support them, which had left her no time for socializing, no time to make or keep friends. They had depended upon each other for companionship and if Jasmine had hated the idea of going to Europe she would never have considered letting on when the dream had bouyed her mother's spirits for years while she raked together traveling money a few dollars at the time.
