PROLOGUE
The CEO was only in town for a few hours. He'd already told the flight crew to get the jet ready to depart, that he only had one quick task to which to attend at the plant and then it was back to America. He sat in the ash paneled conference room waiting as the door at the far end open and a young blonde head peered in hesitantly. The young man had been order to this meeting by his supervisor, but he still wasn't sure he had any business in this rarefied air.
He had only joined the company two months ago, right out of the Folk High School following completion of the comprehensive schools. A bright student with no money and no sponsor, he opted to work for a few years before going on to university. He would be able to support himself and save some money. Now he was sure that his job was in jeopardy. He must have done something really wrong. He didn't know anyone else in his work area who had ever seen the head of the company, much less been asked to meet with him.
"Come in! I must be quick, so don't dawdle."
He dipped his head, his shaggy blonde hair tossing with the gesture and moved quickly into the room, stopping at the nearest end of the black mahogany conference table. That kept at least seven or eight meters between him and the man in charge.
"I understand that you're a reasonably bright person and that you aspire to an American University education. Is that true?"
Again he nodded his head and felt immediately stupid for not speaking up. So he added voice to his reply.
"Yes sir."
"I'm here to offer you an unique opportunity..."
