The woman arrived at Don's office in an elegant lady's tuxedo, as if she'd just come from playing a formal concert. She had. Now he knew why her name had sounded so familiar. She was principal viola in the city symphony. "What can I do for you today, Ms.--?" He hesitated, not wanting to stumble over her tongue-mangling surname. "Call me Alexandra," she said curtly. "The other's my husband's name. I won't be using that much longer." "Oh?" he asked. "The bastard's cheating on me. I want you to get the proof." Don nodded. The usual. He'd once thought being a private investigator would be glamorous. But he never got to track murderers or jewel thieves or political candidates. Just cheaters. People trying to fool their spouses or their insurance companies. At least this time the client was good-looking. She hardly seemed old enough to be such an accomplished musician. Maybe twenty-eight, thirty. Jet-black hair framed an angelic southern Mediterranean face. Her eyes were expressive. Her lips begged to be touched. Alexandra was Don's kind of woman.
