Great Good OK Poor

I had just finished my daily labor report when the phone rang.

"Sil-Trac, this is Harley speaking."

"Miss Harley..." said a weak voice on the other end. I could hardly hear over the sound of traffic in the background.

"Hello...Hello...Who is this?"

"Miss Harley, it's Rebecca." It sounded like she was sobbing.

"Rebecca, what's wrong?"

"It's Miroslaw." More sobbing.

"Rebecca, listen. Take a deep breath and then tell me what's wrong." I could hear engine noise in the background. "Start with where you are."

"I am at the petrol store. I went to Miroslaw's home. I am feeding Lech while Miroslaw is with his cousin." She went into another siege of sobbing. At this rate, it would be next week before I got the story out of her.

"Rebecca, if you can't tell me what's wrong, I can't help you." I had a sudden vision of Debbie Dayshift arriving at Mike's while Rebecca was feeding Lech. "Are you hurt, Rebecca?" "Not me. Miss Harley, I think Miroslaw is dying."
