Muttering a curse, Max adjusted his erection behind his zipper as he stood. The words would haunt him until he at least tried to see what needed to be tweaked.
The marble was no longer cool to his touch. Warmth seemed to pulse through it. He ran his hands over every surface, trying to find something to fix. Max blamed the wine, then blamed his obsession with her. He'd gone off the deep end. But if this was insanity, he was all for it. He expected a bark from Coco, but she was happily ensconced on her pillow, apparently sound asleep. Max didn't know if the woman was real or a figment of his imagination. And at that point, he didn't care.
