eBook Description: "A favor when I ask for it." Alexender replied. Turning his gaze away from her toward a door leading to the bathroom. He tucked his hands deep into his pockets of his red uniform. "Bryant already agreed to go with me to Earth. He has nothing here to call his own and I can use him on Earth." He informed her. Bryant is leaving Kapnek, why? She wanted to ask the older man but couldn't find the words to ask. It hurt too much to ask. Her heart was pounding her skin felt clammy. She also felt as if she needed to vomit. Pressing a hand to her stomach, Elisa nodded her head. She'll go with them to Earth. There was nothing left on Kapnek for her, only unwanted memories.

"No!" His shouts echoed in the dark quiet room, sweat pouring from his forehead and chest. Fingers clenched the sheets surrounding his hard, naked, muscular body. Bryant Kohfield jerked up into sitting position, digging his palms into his eyes. His body was shaking uncontrollably as he drew his knees to his chest. He wrapped his arms around his knees as he began rocking back and forth on the bed. He couldn't remember how he'd come to this motel room; he shook his head, clamping his hands over his ears. His chest heaved with each deep breath he took. The nightmare still had its grip over him. Raking his fingers through his shoulder length blonde hair, visions of faces that were coated with blood filled his mind. Bryant glanced over at the plasma TV sitting on the wooden dresser across the room. He knew what he'd find on the intergalactic news when he turned it on. "I have to know." Cringing before sliding off the bed, his legs shook and he groaned out loud as he slowly made his way across the room. His hand shook uncontrollably when he reached out and turned on the TV. Returning to the bed, he reached across to the nightstand for the brown bottle of pills and shook out two capsules into his hand. Popping them into his mouth, he tossed the bottle to the side on the bed. He ran his hands down his face as the news switched to more interesting stories. "Late breaking new, this just came in on the wire. A couple is found murdered in their own home. The police don't have any leads as to the identity of the person responsible for the murders." The anchorwoman paused as she pressed her fingers into her ear. "It's been reported the couple who was murdered only two hours ago, it is Ambassador Yearn and his wife, Lora." "No, it can't be true," Bryant muttered. Deciding he'd had enough; he turned off the TV, placing his hands over the edge of the dresser. His head hung low with his eyes closed tight. One of his hands fisted then began to pound on the dresser. "I have to leave. Get as far away from the city as soon as I can get out." Bryant turned and found his clothes on the floor near the bed. They were bloody. He let out a deep sigh as he leaned over to pull out a bag from underneath the bed. Tossing the bag on the bed he shook his head. "What the hell is happening to me? "How did I know that I'd find a bag under the bed? What is going on here?" he murmured. He sat down on the bed, staring at the bag with wide eyes. Slowly, he reached out to pull the bag closer to him. He unzipped the bag, peering inside as he held his breath. He let it out as he pulled out some clean clothes. A large yellow envelope was tucked underneath them. His fingers began to tremble as he pulled it out, undoing the flap. Air rushed out of his lungs, when a receipt fell out for ten thousand credits that had been placed into his account. The papers fell from his numb fingers and onto the bed. His eyes wide, he stared at them. Bryant jumped off the bed and began to dress in jerky movements. "I have to leave, now, before it's too late." He barely sat back down on the bed to yank on his black leather boots when the phone rang. Bryant stopped moving and his eyes flew to the telephone. Bryant slowly stood and made his way toward it. He gulped deeply several times before he picked up the phone. He listened to the quick message then placed the receiver back into the cradle. Sweat began to bead on his forehead; he reached up to wipe the moisture away. Bryant let out a deep sigh as he dashed out of the door. The door slammed shut behind him. He began walking down the street, noting it was late in the evening. It was raining and humid feeling in the air of the city. People were running, trying to find shelter from the storm as a flash of lightning rent through the sky. A slow-moving hover-car pulled up beside him. The dark window rolled down causing Bryant to stop in mid-stride. Turning slowly to the hover-car while running his fingers through his blonde hair, he waited while the man in the car stared up at him; arching his eyebrow while his hard green gaze raked over Bryant's rain-soaked form. The window slowly rolled up and then the hover-car drove away. He inhaled several deep breaths while his heart beat at a fast tempo. Who was that man? Bryant thought. Spinning on his heel, he continued on down the street. Someone's watching me. Why? Bryant couldn't stop the feeling. He kept scanning the streets around him as he continued. People kept dodging his path as they were rushing to find shelter from the pouring rain. Suddenly he came to the end of the road. His eyes looked over at the space dock, ships were taking off into space with the roar of their thrusters echoing in the night. Bryant stood, watching those ships taking off into the nighttime sky. He glanced over his shoulder at the city of New York behind him, knowing he had to leave. Inhaling a deep breath, he let it out slowly. His fingers flexed at his sides and he turned his eyes back to the space dock. The hover-car he'd seen earlier flew over his head, startling him. His eyes watched the hover-car until it faded in the darkness. A feeling of dread washed over Bryant. Spinning on his heel, he slowly made his way down the street he'd been on earlier. "I can't let them see me leaving New York," he mumbled to himself, his eyes glancing at the clock tower a few blocks over taking note the hour was approaching midnight. Halfway down the block, Bryant jumped under an awning when the rain began to pound the city harder then hail began to fall from the evening sky. Tilting his head back against the glass door of a church, he closed his eyes as he tried to find the memories of how his new life on the foreign planet had started. All he could remember was arriving on this planet with Alexender and the Federation. "Earth is like one giant city," Alexender had explained to him, while he stood on the bridge next to the wall-length window. They were approaching the headquarters of the Federation. Elisa was in her room, refusing to come out with so many men running about the ship. What Donsan had put her through during the four months of captivity was still too raw for her. Elisa, her name ran through his mind against his will. His body began to tremble and sweat coated along his upper lip. His fingers trembled as he reached to wipe a bead of sweat from his lip and forehead when unwanted memories began to swim through his mind of the short time they were together on the ship. Her sad eyes pierced right through his heart and he wanted to reach out to heal her broken heart. To heal her torn soul after her ordeal with Donsan, knowing she would never be able to trust another man because of the now deceased president. When they finally reached Earth, Elisa had disappeared from his life, leaving a hole in his heart and his life empty. It had been two years since coming to Earth. His life began to change and he couldn't remember when it had all started. Hell, he couldn't seem to remember the two years he'd been on Earth. It was all a blur to him. The door to the church opened suddenly, startling Bryant out of his miserable memories. He abruptly turned around, ready to confront the person who was intruding on his privacy and his mouth dropped open. Those eyes, he could never forget those eyes. "Elisa?" his voice whispering into the rain, his eyes watching her with deep longing filling through him, causing his heartbeat to pick up its pace. * * * *Elisa froze at the sound of the voice she had never thought to hear again. The man standing inside the doorway sent a jolt through her. "Bryant?" Her voice trembled. Her hand gripped the doorknob until her knuckles turned white. Shaking her head slightly she said, "Please, come in out of the rain." Using one of her hands to sweep the long black skirt out of her way, she made room for him to enter the church then closed the door slowly. She turned to gaze at him. It had been a long time since she'd seen him. She watched him slightly trembling as he stepped into the foyer of the church, the lights from the candles glinting against the gold earring in his left ear. She turned to light a candle then blew out the match. "How are Kole and Taira?" "They're doing well. How are you doing?" he said softly from behind her, causing Elisa to stiffen her spine. Rubbing his hands together, he tried to warm them. She turned around slowly to face the one man who'd been haunting her dreams at night. "I'm fine," she whispered tucking her hands into the sleeves of her habit. Her eyes turned to a spot on the floor in front of her. Her heart began to pound. She had inhaled several deep breaths when his hand reached out to trail his fingers along her cheek. "Don't touch me, please," she whispered softly then took a step away from his muscular form. Her gray eyes were wide when she turned away from him. "Elisa?" His raw voice carried across the foyer causing her heart to skip a beat. His eyes traveled over the black habit she was wearing. He clenched his jaw tightly until it began to throb with pain. "What have you done to yourself?" His eyes raked over her body, he didn't want believe she'd become a nun. "I've found my true calling," her voice became a mere whisper. She thought she'd never see him again when Alexender had left her at the church two years ago when she first came to Earth. The Reverend had taken her in; fed her starving body and clothed her. In return she repaid him with kindness and became what she was today. There was so much she wanted to tell Bryant but couldn't, since she'd spoken the vows of secrecy. She watched as his eyes turned to ice-cold blue. She'd never forget his eyes. She forced herself to turn away from those eyes while trying to calm her fast beating heart. Hearing the sound of soft leather creaking and the sound of a door opening, she figured that he was leaving her again. She wanted to call out to him, to tell him the truth about herself, but couldn't. The door closed softly behind her and she turned, then watched his dark figure walk past the windows, his dark and lonely figure. Feeling her heart cry out to him as she crossed her arms over her chest, she shook her head sadly but she couldn't seem to make herself move, to go after him, not at that moment when so many memories ran through her.
