"...a quick, sexy, and satisfying read packed with charm and rich description. It will leave you hungry for more of Thomas' work..."--Ellie McBride Ellie McBride Reviewer for Romance News.org

"Bebe Thomas pulls this short story off making me feel as though I read something much longer... Her characters are likeable and enjoyable ... The erotic scenes are a good fit--neither grossly graphic or tame, but somewhere in between..."--4 Champagne Flutes from White Russian Reviewer for Cocktail Reviews

"It seems rare for an erotic story to have such a sweet feel to it ... A charming story, Aurora's Passion is a quick and pleasant read ... Ms. Thomas is a true romantic at heart."--4 Stars by Rene Reviewer for Romance Central

This is a wonderfully entertaining read in spite of the super short length. Ms. Thomas shows a real talent in storytelling as the drama catches you and carries you along... Definitely a recommended read should you need a quick break from the daily grind!"--Jasmina Vallombrosa Reviewer for TCM

Kris could feel Paul's hand in the small of her back as they walked up the stairs onto Bestemor's porch. By the front door, Kris turned to face Paul. She clasped her hands behind her back, willing herself to seem normal, trying to convince herself that there was nothing more between them than an awkward silence. Finally, she said, "Thanks for taking me to the game. It was fun."

"Yeah." He stuffed his hands in his pockets and seemed nervous, rocking back and forth on his heels.

A part of her wanted Paul to kiss her goodnight. On the other hand, she was frightened. What if he did kiss her? It could change everything. They might eventually become lovers. She wasn't sure if she was ready for that. Not only that, but she reminded herself the relationship could go nowhere. She was going back to New York. Right?

So she didn't have a job right now, and in theory, she could stay. No. Not an option. She would go back. If she slept with Paul, it would ruin their friendship. No matter how much she wanted him, she couldn't risk it.

"Well..." Kris said. "I guess I better go in now." She reached for the doorknob. Paul grabbed her, pulling her to him. Kris caught her breath at the look of deep longing in his green eyes. His nearness was so overwhelming that she almost pushed away. But he only leaned in and brushed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

Kris stared at him with a myriad of emotions--disappointment, frustration, confusion. She thought he was going to kiss her, but she was grateful, in a way, not to have to deal with her emotions right now.

"Have dinner with me at the cabin tomorrow night," he said in a husky tone. Kris couldn't tell if it was a request or a demand. "Geomagnetic activity can last for several days so we may get to see the Aurora Borealis again."

Kris only nodded in agreement, shocked at the ambivalent feelings in the pit of her stomach.

He walked down the porch steps, paused and turned to face her. "Bring your ice skates."

"Ice skates?"

"Yep." He nodded and walked away.

Kris retrieved her skates from the trunk of the rental car. It had taken her almost an hour to find them up in the attic. She was surprised to find they still fit.

Her stomach had been in knots all day. Since last night, she tried unsuccessfully to push the increasingly erotic thoughts of Paul from her mind. It would never work. He loved his job at the high school, his cabin, and the people of Aurora. He would never leave. And she would never ask him to.

She rehearsed the conversation in her head. She would say, "Paul, we have to talk. I would only hurt you in the end. I can't stay forever. We can't jeopardize our friendship." She would have to be the strong one. Kris hoped she was up to the task.

She slammed the trunk closed and trudged through the snow up to Paul's log cabin. A snow drift covered the left side of the house and smoke streamed out of the massive stone chimney on the right side. Icicles hung off the covered porch. Kris tried to peer inside the windows, but they were frosted over with condensation. There was a note on the front door. I'm waiting at the lake.

Intrigued, Kris made her way along the shoveled path which wound its way behind the cabin to the lake. She waved to Paul who was skating about thirty yards out. He called to her, "Put your skates on!"

Kris sat on a large tree stump and laced up her skates. Paul skated to shore and helped her to the frozen surface. Kris wobbled a bit as she got her legs on the ice, but he steadied her. Taking her hand, he said, "Come on."

The lake looked like a sheet of glass in the twilight. They glided together in silence each stroke in tandem, almost soaring toward the center of the lake. Darkness approached quickly, but strangely Kris was not afraid.

Each time their eyes met, a shiver of desire ran through her body. There was nothing she wanted more than to feel him naked next to her in his warm bed. She was losing her resolve and tried not to look at him.

Finally, they reached the center of the lake. The moon reflected off the lake and bathed them in its light.

"It's beautiful," Kris said.

"You're beautiful," he said, encircling her in his arms.
