O LORD, HOW MANIFOLD ARE YOUR WORKS!
IN WISDOM HAVE YOU MADE THEM ALL;
THE EARTH IS FULL OF YOUR CREATURES.
You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills; they give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches. From your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.
You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants to grow for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth and wine to gladden the heart of man, oil to make his face shine and bread to strengthen man's heart.
The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. In them the birds build their nests; the stork has her home in the fir trees. The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers.
Psalm 104:24. Psalm 104:10-18.
JANUARY 17 SEEK THE LORD AND LIVE.
He who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns deep darkness into the morning and darkens the day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth, the LORD is his name.
Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name? Surely you know!
Know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you.
Amos 5:6, 8. Proverbs 30:4. 1 Chronicles 28:9.
JANUARY 18 BE SURE YOUR SIN WILL FIND YOU OUT.
If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Numbers 32:23. 1 John 1:6-9. Psalm 51:7-12.
JANUARY 19 WHAT IS LACKING IN YOUR FAITH?
Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.
May the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another ... so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
1 Thessalonians 3:10. 2 Timothy 2:20-23. 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13.
JANUARY 20 EVERYONE WHO ACKNOWLEDGES ME [JESUS]
BEFORE MEN, I ALSO WILL ACKNOWLEDGE
BEFORE MY FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN.
Nevertheless, many even of the authorities believed in him, but for fear of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.
God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord ... who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.
If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
Matthew 10:32. John 12:42-43. 2 Timothy 1:7-9. 1 Peter 4:14.
JANUARY 21 JESUS SAID ... "I AM THE WAY, AND THE TRUTH,
AND THE LIFE."
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn.
Jesus is the Christ ... the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
John 14:6. Isaiah 61:1-2. 1 John 5:1. Revelation 22:13.
JANUARY 22 WHOEVER KEEPS HIS WORD, IN HIM TRULY
THE LOVE OF GOD IS PERFECTED.
By this we may be sure that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says "I know him" but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
1 John 2:5-6. 1 John 2:3-4. 1 John 3:9-10.
JANUARY 23 AS YOU WISH THAT OTHERS WOULD DO TO YOU,
DO SO TO THEM.
If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount.
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
JANUARY 24 THE HEARING EAR AND THE SEEING EYE,
THE LORD HAS MADE THEM BOTH.
God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
You [God] formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.
Proverbs 20:12. Genesis 1:26. Psalm 139:13-14, 16. 1 Chronicles 29:12-13.
JANUARY 25 KEEP YOUR TONGUE FROM EVIL AND YOUR LIPS
FROM SPEAKING DECEIT.
A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is like a war club, or a sword, or a sharp arrow. Trusting in a treacherous man in time of trouble is like a bad tooth or a foot that slips.
Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
Psalm 34:13. Proverbs 25:18-19. 1 Peter 3:10-12.
JANUARY 26 EVIL PEOPLE AND IMPOSTORS WILL GO ON
FROM BAD TO WORSE, DECEIVING AND
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it.
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
2 Timothy 3:13-14. Matthew 7:15-16, 21.
JANUARY 27 [O LORD,] TURN MY EYES FROM LOOKING AT
WORTHLESS THINGS; AND GIVE ME LIFE
IN YOUR WAYS.
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.... He has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature.
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue...
For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Psalm 119:37. 2 Peter 1:3-8.
JANUARY 28 I HAVE THE DESIRE TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT,
BUT NOT THE ABILITY TO CARRY IT OUT.
I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.
The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is his faithfulness. Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the LORD! The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
Romans 7:18. Romans 7:15. Psalm 14:2-3. Lamentations 3:22-23, 40.
JANUARY 29 THE APOSTLES RETURNED TO JESUS AND TOLD HIM
ALL THAT THEY HAD DONE AND TAUGHT.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
You did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"
So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Mark 6:30. Philippians 4:6-7. Romans 8:15. Galatians 4:7. Hebrews 4:16.
JANUARY 30 THE WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND ACTIVE
Sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from God's sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
Hebrews 4:12-13. 1 John 2:1-2.
JANUARY 31 LISTEN TO ADVICE AND ACCEPT INSTRUCTION,
THAT YOU MAY GAIN WISDOM IN THE FUTURE.
God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore, so that Solomon's wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all the people of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt.
Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
He who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and mother be glad.Proverbs 19:20. 1 Kings 4:29-30. Job 28:28. Matthew 7:24-25. Proverbs 23:24-25.
