"Once upon a time there was a science fiction fairy tale told in that distant third person so beloved of those old time fabulists, and it was called "Falling onto Mars" by Geoffrey Landis. Memorable in part just for its narrative conceit, this is a tight little one-punch story that--like most traditional fables--tells rather than shows. Such a narrative would sag badly at length, but works quite well across four Analog pages. Landis even manages to incorporate a neat twist in the cramped word count."Jay Lake, Tangent Online (Learn more about Tangent Online, the Internet's leading SF&F short fiction review website)
