He could no longer feel the cold stone on which he sat. His lank belly had ceased its growling and even the pellets of sleet that peppered his up turned face made no impression on him. The lad who had been Ke-Oh-Ha waited for his destiny. He had faithfully done the things required for one who went out to find his totem. The fasting, the chanted songs, the chewing of the sacred herb had gone on for many days, now. He had wondered, in his disoriented state, why it was taking so long for his message to come to him. Still, he knew that he must endure. To go nameless through the world would be a terrible thing.
