"Giving a capsule synopsis of Kiyama is next to impossible, but I'll try--and confess that I am using material I copied from the publisher's Website (but I am re-writing it). The Omoro race is dying. They create three empathic neurosynths, psycho-genetically created hybrids to act as the soul of the race. The three represent salvation of their home world, Omori, which was invaded and conquered long ago. Their quest leads them far into the future and they encounter many dangers along the way. Diana Kemp-Jones has a masterly way with words, with plots, with character development, and I wish I could have listened to Kiyama. I read parts of it aloud to get some idea of the cadence. The prose is lyrical, so much so that I became involved more with the ebb and flow of the words than with the actual story--which is enigmatic but compelling. Rating: 4 Stars."--Patricia White, Scribes World Review

I recoiled as something cool brushed against my shoulders. A vague susurration rose in my mind. I turned to the watchful faces and shuddered at the tingling embrace of their directed energy. The power seemed contained mostly in their eyes, the remaining features nothing more than random etchings left to fade in the light. Phrases danced through my mind, the words at once familiar and meaningless, the sound a flowing, mellifluous chant. A vaguely acrid odor of wood smoke merged into a gamy aroma tinged with heat-baked dust. I instinctively sniffed, though I knew the source didn't emanate from the sterile walls surrounding me. Something flapped behind me. From my peripheral vision, I caught a phantom glimpse of a scarlet winged creature. It uttered a lonely, haunted cry before it vanished into the glow of twin orbs rotating at the chamber's distant summit. I backed away until the pliant shell of the chrysalis pressed against my back. Confused and uncertain, I rested on my haunches, the sense of urgency apparent to me even if I could glean no actual meaning to the strange vision. "Who are you?" I asked, my strong voice an echo of those lurking in my mind. Unaware that I could even speak, I shivered at its resonance, my flesh crawling as I pressed my fingers to my throat. "Where am I?" I asked more boldly, the vibration against my fingers a strange sensation. "What is this place?"
