In northern California something terrible happens in the area known as Kohler Pass, something unlike anything that had ever happened anywhere on Earth. Cordoned off by the U.S. Army, guarded from above by patrolling U.S. Air Force flybys, six townships in a thirty square mile densely wooded, mountainous area, is designated a quarantine zone.
The military find a computer diskette containing an encrypted electronic. Strange footprints leading away from a soldier's tent mark the delivery of the journal? human footprints. According to the Army contingent's Forensic Scientist, those footprints belonged to a woman. At the edge of the encampment, the footprints simply ended, as if the being who'd left them had simply vanished. A scientific think-tank is enlisted to decipher the contents of the electronic message: It is a journal. The scientists uncover a horrific story of violence, murder and chaos unleashed amongst the unsuspecting populace of the Kohler Pass area.
