Begging me to plea For my life or for a fight A battle of two species in night's sight I detested the thought And thought I ought To ebb away at a turtle's pace Far away from the devil's face My foot stepped back, one step, two The wolf moved forward to me on cue I knew it was only a matter of time Before I would hear the bells of Heaven chime Another step, slow but sure The nearing did that silver fur I stood frozen, wracked with fear And watched, while hungry death grew near The wolf bowed on front legs He had me, I was pegged My mouth opened, wide and slack And it was then that I saw the moon turn black
