eBook Description:  This story is fascinating from several different angles. First, it is an alternate history story that presumes that the founder of science fiction was G.K. Chesterton instead of Hugo Gernsback. Second, it presumes that Chesterton wrote his famous "Father Brown" mystery series in the science fiction genre rather than a pure mystery format. Third, it presents for us a "new" Father Brown mystery that takes place on a space ship. This is wildly imaginative and succeeds in its own right as a mystery story as well as gripping science fiction! We didn't know whether to call this Science Fiction/Mystery, or Alternate History/Mystery, or Mystery/Science Fiction. (Our category feature only allows a maximum of two, so we settled on Alternate History/Science Fiction.) It is an amazing story in that it perfectly bridges all three genres--the literary equivalent of a triple play! Michael Swanwick reviewed this story for Locus Magazine and called it: "almost pointlessly brilliant." To which we can only nod in vigorous agreement.
