eBook Category: Romance
eBook Description: Ethan Travis had loved many times in his existence. Who could really love a vampire? He would love again--as a human, unless he could find that one ageless love that could forget that Ethan existed in human flesh only in the dark of the night. Kristen Stanton wanted to make a big discovery. That was her ultimate goal in life and that was why she worked in her father's laboratories, studying human blood. She had no desire to be stuck on nights with a man who didn't want her around as his assistant and held a record of some kind for eccentric.

Ethan should be here by now, but she'd run out and sign-in before she started work. Bob would have a hissy-fit if he found her here without her name on the sheet. She rounded the corner of the hall from the bathroom. What in the world was Ethan doing? It looked as if he just injected a needle into his arm. A tube connected the needle to a blood collection bag. She stopped as if she had hit a brick wall.

He was drawing his own blood! What was he up to? Why would he use his own blood for experiments? They always had an ample supply to do their testing. It would be senseless to pump from himself for his experimentation... unless of course, he had contracted the AIDS virus from handling the blood. Ethan with AIDS? That would be horrible, but it could explain his pressing need to find a cure.

Well, she would wait until he finished. She wouldn't embarrass him by rushing out. Her breath came slow, almost too quiet for even herself to hear. He pulled the needle from his arm and discarded it in the infectious materials container. Then he placed his blood bag on his workstation. After putting a rack of vials in front of him, he siphoned from his bag to fill the contents of the individual samples.

He stored the remainder of his newly extracted rack in the refrigerated compartment and returned to his chair. She took a step to go in, but hesitated. He glanced around and reached for another bag of blood from his workstation and then he lifted it to his mouth. He was drinking it! That's what it looked like, anyway. It looked like his teeth were stuck into the bag.

Her stomach flopped. This was absurd. She inhaled sharply, covered her mouth with her hand, and stepped backwards toward the bathroom. After dodging into the ladies' room, she eased the door together. Her stomach retched again. Surely she didn't see what she thought she did. People don't drink blood so she had to be going crazy!
