"So, are you ready?" Jeremi cocked her head.
Her fresh appeal seared through him, heavier now than when she'd bumped into him by the van. Out there the firm press of her body, lightly redolent of roses and sun-warmed female, had the subtle impact of a twenty pound hammer. Since the shooting he'd been impotent. Or so he thought. She'd broken the trauma-induced spell he'd lived under since the shock of seeing Lilian dead at his feet; when all--honor, freedom, future and posterity--had been lost to him in one sickening day of anger, blood, and horror. He sucked a deep breath. "I'm ready." Yeah, he was real ready, but not for what she meant. "Okay, let's go." She stepped in front of him to reach her keys off the table. He moved forward, and her right arm and shoulder grazed his ribs. Her firm little butt pressed to his pelvis. He bit back a groan, and swung an arm out to fence her between his body and the table. His imagination moved like fingers through her thick golden braid, yearning to feel the release of silken hair over her bared shoulders, against his naked chest. The lovely images roiled in his gut, settling in his groin like molten lead. "What are you doing?" She gave him a perplexed glance.
