"Ms. Straus lets you peek through the curtain of time to see what it is truly like to live in an unstable era where life and love become all the more precious because one never knows how long it can be enjoyed."--Tara Manderino, Sime~Gen Reviews

Author's NoteFor over seven hundred years the British controlled the political, economic and social life of Ireland, and for as many years the Irish resisted British domination, fighting intensely at times and passively resisting at others. Keegan Murphy takes place during the last two years of that struggle, the period known as the Irish War for Independence. The characters and the events in their daily lives are fictional; however, I have tried to present accurately the facts of the war. Historians generally agree that between 1919-1921 no more than 15,000 Irish forces armed with shotguns, rifles, revolvers, and pitch forks fought in guerrilla fashion against 43,000 well-equipped British soldiers, including 7000 of the infamous Black and Tans. The Irish odds hadn't changed in seven hundred years.
