Shannon slightly jumped at the initial contact of his arms, but Darr turned her and eased her in front of him. Her head rested against his wide chest, letting the tears fall as she told him what had happened to her in the office.

"He was so angry. His eyes were so hard and full of hatred." Shannon sniffed, trying to fight the tears, but they continued to slide down her face.

Not sure what to say to her, Darr remained quiet. He stood there holding her close to his body, his arms wrapped tightly around her. He bent his face and buried his nose in the crook of her neck, inhaling her fresh floral scent deeply within him.
