eBook Description: Cappella knew something didn't quite add up the second she opened Ion's invitation for a 'chat'. Despite all the warnings, she decided to accept. It was clear this meeting wasn't going to be easy, she had even prepared herself for a full-scale row. But from the moment she arrived, everything was turned on its head. What was Dee, of all people, doing there? And why was the room peeling down around her and the garden turning to trash? Cappella quickly found herself drawn into a frightening battle across time and memory. Against her was a force which had no rules, compassion or fear, and had been waiting a millennia for just this moment to renew its attack. And, more worryingly, was trying to erase every trace of her life. With Ion as an unlikely ally, and Dee somehow central to the action, Cappella is determined to make sense of it all before their city is completely destroyed. And this was no ordinary city; this was their homeworld of Olympus. Everything that happened here would ultimately affect the Earth itself. One thing was in their favour--they were three of the most powerful beings in existence. It was just a question of how to use that power.

Arielle pulled the blanket further up, almost over their heads. They had lain there for most of the day, not letting go of each other for a second. Both knew they would eventually have to face up to it. Another hour, then see. Maybe tomorrow? Where was Safra? He said two days. He promised. Had it been over a week now?
An acceptance grew within them. They chanced the streets to get to the council chamber. A figure hurried towards them. Unshaven, bracing himself against the wind. He gathered them in. They did not ask where he had been. He offered no explanation. They reached the chamber. Justain emerged from behind a large view screen. Tall, thin, almost lanky. Screwdriver in hand. Nodding in satisfaction. "That should do it. Yes, that gives us a three sixty view." He made a few adjustments to the command console to give an equal zoom factor to the screens. He looked serious. He sounded serious. This was his primary purpose--technical wizard, creator of the machines which helped run Olympus. He was in sweat-darkened overalls. Looked like he had been working for days. He outlined the controls for Kobe and Asia, who would now take it in turns to keep watch. The chamber had been transformed since they had last been there. Gone were the table and map, now replaced by a central command platform. The monitor screens filled the walls, with the outside views making the room seem huge. The floor was trailed with wires. Nothing was in any kind of order, but it gave the sense of purpose. Surya was by a small view screen, playing back a recording. Venus was standing next to her, watching, arms tightly folded for comfort. She had seen all this before. A tear ran down her cheek. Yes, eons ago, but remembered. A memory seared into the minds of all her generation. It was something she never expected nor wanted to see again. Surya gave her a minute, then, "Do you know what it is? Is it what you thought?"
