Lisa hadn't been alone with Boyd since their kiss last Saturday night. When he returned on Monday morning, he'd appeared to be his usual self. She couldn't forget the feel of his arms holding her close or the touch of his lips on her own. Those few moments meant so much to her. Apparently they had meant little to him. It was better that way for both of them. He could never want her. She wouldn't ever want any man in her life again. One happy memory was preferable to a number of disappointments. Miles would soon separate them.

"I got your stuff. Meet me at the van."

There was nothing left to do but leave the guide dog training school. "Forward Amber, we're going home."
