Thunder rumbled angrily in the background as she moved closer to him, slid her arms around his waist. The solid warmth of his body was a homecoming, arousing. She stared up into his face until his gaze met hers and she read the pain there. Pain she'd inflicted on him.

"Paul," she said slowly, shivering in the rain that fell hard now. "Whatever I said to you tonight, whatever I made you feel, forgive me. I do love you. I can't live without you. Let me prove it," she whispered.
