One escape pod with room for two--and three people on board. Above the rasp of the failing air circulation system, Carter could hear Marion's and Gregory's oddly struggling breath. They'd gone over and over the simple math of their situation. And the air smelled like fear.
"Okay," he said, rubbing bleary eyes, "we have six hours before we have to eject, so let's take a breather. I think four hours sleep will help--"
"Cap," Gregory said, "we've got to--"
"Not now." Carter's voice rose, sounding too much like panic. He ignored the glance his two companions shared.
