Wrong Place, Wrong Time--1814
Lady Elizabeth Moore stood on the frozen waters of the River Thames, almost frozen herself. The month of February, 1814 was one of the coldest ones on record, and as a result, the Thames had solidified into one huge mass between London and Blackfriars Bridges. As was the custom in years past, a Frost Fair was now in progress on the river--a Fair busy with booths selling all sorts of goods for everyone's entertainment.
But Elizabeth wasn't entertained; indeed, she feared she had more ice on her than the "ground" below.
