Prologue

2513 A.D.

"Solarian One, you are cleared for hyperspace. Good luck Fly Boy," Lenora's voice floated over Com.

Kabe Folker's hand clutched the control stick. God, he was going to miss her. When he returned, he would claim her, no matter what her father said. In a few more years, she would be his.

"Thanks control. Folker out." Grinning, Kabe glanced at his wolf, Josie. Excitement rose within him. Josie panted, her laughing face echoing his, looking forward to the adventure too. "Let's rock and roll, girl."

He engaged the hyperspace engines and was engulfed in the speed of the ride.

Heading into the blackness of outer space, Solarian's first Astronaut yelled, "Yeahhhh!"

Chapter One

"Lone Wolf One requesting clearance for landing." Releasing the communication button, Lenora eased back in the captain's chair. These routine cargo runs were killing her. Manual control of the craft was required forty-eight hours prior to landing on this uptight planet. It was a total waste of her time.

"Lone Wolf One, you are cleared for landing in Cargo Bay Five," a mechanical male voice responded.

Lenora ran a hand through her hair in fatigue as she navigated the ship in for landing.

The two-month trip to this planet had her longing for the simple life of the Solarian Realm. Only Solarian Warriors of the highest caliber were allowed into space, so only a half dozen had taken on the task of learning the craft. Most of the warriors stayed on Earth to protect the Realm. The captains on these runs were flying on the edges of their nerves, with so few Warriors to relieve them.

She had heard this planet, Elnar, was harsh, not a welcome environment. But last year, Elnar had filed its commodity manifest with the United Federation of Inter-Galactic Trade. They manufactured Eiknar, the energy fuel necessary to operate a Solarian cloaking device. Without this fuel Solaria would be exposed to outsiders, their way of life vulnerable to attack.

"Loan Wolf One, lower into bay five four one zero at the Crish Mark."

Lenora squinted out the front window of the ship and located her bay. She eased her small ship into the designated area.

"Acknowledged," she said. She secured the ship to the bay, cringing as the grappling hooks crashed into the side of her ship. Damn, she heard they always did things to the extreme on this planet.

Releasing the full harness, she rose out of the navigation seat, and approached the pen that held Wana, her wolf, during takeoff and landing. She opened the catch and smiled when Wana launched herself into her arms.

"Okay, we've been apart only twenty minutes, girl. Settle down."

Wana placed her huge white paws against Lenora's shoulders and tumbled her backwards. Laughing, Lenora struggled to get up. She gave up as Wana licked her face and nuzzled her neck.
