Ann'dra whined as he woke from his nightmare and looked around the kennel, dimly lit by two of the four moons. All the other dogs were asleep around him, but they had the advantage of having been born dogs, while he, until a month ago, had been human, secretary to a neighboring lord. He had been captured by Dom Felix, lord of this castle, and tortured to make him reveal the information he had been copying. Rather than break under torture, he had left his body, and, knowing that Dom Felix would find him in the Overworld, he had hidden himself in the body of his hound. Unfortunately, Dom Felix had guessed what had happened, and Ann'dra still woke from nightmares seeing Dom Felix's malicious smile as he ordered the dog taken to the kennels and cut the man's throat.
