Across golden fried camembert, dill dressing and a spatter of cranberry, Voula Pappas pulled her hand from Sam's kneading fingers.
"Not tonight, darling," she said to his pleading eyes.
She didn't know how to tell him the core of her hesitation.
Raised well, of Greek parentage, schooled in the finest Catholic school in the country, it would take a whole paradigm change to shift her resolve. A virgin, she saved herself for a man as special as Sam Peterson. But only for the night after a walk down the aisle and a toss of colourful bouquets to screaming maids. Sam was the kind of person dreamt of by many, especially by her, but available to a few. She met him through her doctor brother, Ned.
Right now, Sam was real and he was available to her.
Voula, in turn, was a tall and rare redhead with grey eyes. She loved her body and loved to show it well. She did so now in a very fluid Venetian dress with vintage buckles twice worn to a hospital Ball.
