Rachel sized up her "guest" and realized by the coldness of her eyes and the seriousness of her demeanor that this was not some sick joke. Still, without that gun, the slim intruder wouldn't seem so tough.
"I don't see that happening."
The woman smiled. "You don't have a choice in the matter."
"I could refuse..."
"I suppose. But it's really in your best interest to cooperate. You see, it's a matter of dying quickly and painlessly versus being slowly tortured to death."
Rachel almost chuckled despite her mounting terror. "I don't see how you could make it look like a suicide if I've been shot and tortured."
The intruder half-rolled her eyes as though she couldn't believe how stupid her target was. "My client asked for a suicide, but the bottom line is that he wants you dead. I can make your death look like a car accident or an unexplainable disappearance. Believe me, I have countless contingencies. So I repeat: the bottom line is that you will die ... soon. It'll just be a lot easier on you if you cooperate. Now, it's time for you to write your suicide note." She waved the gun at a pad of paper and a cup full of pens on the desktop. "Write something along the lines of..." Her voice trailed off as something perched on top of the monitor caught her attention.
"Is that a video camera?" she asked.
"Yes," Rachel replied. "What? Are you going to make a snuff film of my death?"
