"Damn." She shook her head, rubbing her temple in an attempt to dull the headache that pulsed in her head. "Och, how I could go for a nice steaming cup of brewed tea ... that would make this ache in my head feel so much better." "Would it?" The voice startled her. She'd lost track of how far she'd traveled. The sound of a rushing waterfall filled her ears. She tensed. "You don't need to disguise yourself from me ... not tonight. I realize you are there." "You look bewitching, even though you are burdened by those ill fitting mortal clothes." "What would you have me wear?" She tried to keep her voice calm ... but her palms had grown sweaty beneath her gloves. Perhaps, she could still find a way to elude their pact ... if she acted now ... maybe he would let her go. "I won't." He'd answered her unspoken question. Her heartbeat quickened. She moaned when his mind touched hers. It felt as if tiny butterfly wings slapped against her temple. "You are invading my privacy." "Nay, I am only taking advantage of our newfound closeness. You were in full understanding that the magical bargain we made would come into being as soon as the sun set. The sun has set in case you did not notice." "Don't be cheeky with me." She stopped short of speaking his name. "You don't have to live in fear of me, beloved. You can embrace me and hold onto the bond we've shared since before you were born." "I'm not going to listen to any of your blabbering. I just want this night to end." "It will not be the end ... when dawn comes ... for us, it will only be the beginning ... the beginning of eternity. We will spend that eternity loving each other."
