Donsan staring at a picture of Kole in the file in front of him with hard eyes. The door slid opened to his office and a man walked in carrying a folder. "What do you have for me?" Donsan asked as the man stood before him in front of the desk. The room only contained a desk and a chair on the other side of it. The walls were painted with an ice-cold blue and devoid of any holo-pics.

"Another proposal from the Inter-Galactic Federation," Tate said as he slid the folder across the desk toward Donsan. He closed the folder and placed it in a drawer.

"They want to trade our robots for Crystalline rocks, eta-silk skins, and Karin wine. What else?" Donsan read further down the list before he looked back up at Tate. "Tell them no."

Tate's head snapped up, looking at the President with surprised eyes. "Sir?" He was puzzled by the latest proposal to the Federation; they'd been after them for years to join and Donsan had always turned them down. Tate knew he shouldn't be puzzled by Donsan's answer from the Federation.

"Tell them I said no." He tossed the file into the recycling bin. A low, grinding sound came from the bin as it shredded the papers within it. Tate stood to the side as he watched the proposal being recycled.

"What is the status of the prisoner, Kole?" Donsan asked as he leaned back in his chair looking up at the other man. He began to drum his fingers along the desktop as he waited for Tate's report. Tate slowly turned his attention from the now shredded file back to the President.

"He's still at large. The robots have looked everywhere they could," Tate reported, bracing himself for the President's wrath. He took a step back and placed his arms around his back as his heart started pounding in fear.

"Check with the caravans in the desert," Donsan insisted as his fingers stopped their drumming.

"The robots aren't made for desert travel, sir," Tate pointed out as he watched the President more closely.

"Then send out a manned patrol. I want him found before he reaches those damn rebels. There's no way to tell what will happen once he sides with them," Donsan said in a hard tone. Tate nodded his head before he spun on his heels and walked out of the office.

After Tate left the office, Donsan stood and began to pace the length of the rug in front of his desk. He stopped as he gazed out the window down into the streets of Toron. Hover-cars flew overhead as they commuted and people were out walking along the markets, going in and out of the tall buildings. "I hope we catch him before he reaches the rebels." His hands clenched at his sides while his gaze grew hard as he stared down at Gre Ral.

"Taira, wait up for a moment," Elisa yelled out across the camp. Men and women were already taking down the tents and placing them in the wagons. Taira turned to face her friend and waited for her with her hands on her hips. "I need to talk to you," Elisa told her as soon as she caught up with Taira.

"About?" Taira said as they started walking toward the main tent that was still erected.

"The new guy, Kole,"

Taira stopped walking as she looked over the camp site, searching for him. She didn't see him anywhere in sight. "What has he done?" Taira asked her as she turned back to Elisa. She couldn't understand why her heart was beating at the mere mention of his name or why her palms began to sweat.

"Nothing, he's doing his share of the work. The problem is, he doesn't seem to know how to do any simple task given to him. You have to explain to him how to use even the simplest of tools or how to do an easy task. Makes you wonder if he was raised in Hazen."

Taira stiffened at her friend's words. Something about what she said tugged at a memory long forgotten. "Where's Kole right now?"

"He's loading up the food supplies onto the wagon," Elisa answered. Before she could say anything else, Taira spun around and began to walk to the supply tent in determined strides.

Kole loaded a crate onto the bed of the wagon. He turned to reach for another crate as Taira approached him. She stood face to face with the man. Something flashed in her eyes, making his heart beat at a rapid pace. Her green gaze held his as she stood erect. Heat began to pool at a certain part of his anatomy. His breathing grew ragged as he placed his own hands on his hips. Looking down into her heated green eyes, he felt a strange sensation in his chest.

"You're the one, aren't you?" She poked a finger into his hard chest as she backed him inside the tent. Her eyes flashed with anger and it turned him on for some reason. He only stood there as he watched those flashing green eyes.

"The one what? I have no idea what you're talking about," Kole replied as he looked over his shoulder and skirted around a stack of crates ready to be loaded onto the hover-wagon.

"You're him, aren't you? Kole Adrian, the boy who was sent to prison because your parents were the leaders of the first revolution to overthrow the president?" She stood and faced him with her hands on her hips and gave him everything she had in her.

Kole inhaled several times. "Where did you get that idea from?" He didn't deny it, but his face had turned to ash once she'd said it. The fire in her eyes slowly dissipated as her own face turned ashen.

"The fact you can't do a simple task when asked or know how to use a simple tool," Taira replied as she turned away from him. A hand grabbed her and she was spun around to face him. "I won't say anything to the others, if that is what you're worried about."

"I don't care if they know or not but I've spent my entire life in there. I don't want to go back there, ever." He spoke the latter with a hard voice.

"I don't blame you one bit for escaping when you did. But we're being blamed for your own escape. At least now I know you're not some hardened criminal or a killer." She jerked her arm free of his grasp. "But we do need to do something about the tattoo on your back before they decide to come searching for you in the desert--they do patrols in the area looking for us." She looked away from him as she tried to think of a way to remove the tattoo. She grabbed his hand and led him out of the supply tent. "I hope this works," she muttered as she led him toward the medical tent.

"What do you mean, you hope it works?" Kole asked as he jerked on her arm and stopped them as they were halfway to the medical tent.

"We need to remove the tattoo." She waved her arm at him. "If you're caught, you'll get a free ride to Hazen and that is the last place you want to go back to," Taira informed him. "Since you're missing, they will patrol the desert night and day. We have to remove the tattoo." She turned on her heel and continued on her way to the medical tent. She pushed the flap aside and stepped in with Kole behind her. Her eyes searched the tent and took note the supplies were packed and ready to be loaded onto the wagon.

"Why are we moving out? Why not stay here?" Kole asked as Taira began to search through the wooden crates.

She stopped in the middle of her searching and looked at him. "It's too dangerous to stay in one spot. We need to move around, we're posing as a convoy." She went back to her search of the crate. She sighed as she walked over to another crate in the next pile. She began to dig again through its contents. She smiled when she found what she was looking for. She held a small laser in the palm of her hand as she turned to face him.

"What is that?" Kole asked as his gaze went from the thing in her hand to her eyes--he didn't know if he was going to like what she was planning to do with him with the thing in her hand.

"It's a small laser to remove the tattoo with." Taira walked up to him demanding, "Turn around, please," as she waited for him to turn his back toward her.

Kole placed his hands on his hips and took in a deep breath then let it out. "It won't hurt, will it?" he asked as he looked down into her green eyes.

Taira could only stare at him and shook her head. Kole spun on his heel, his back facing her. She inhaled and let it out several times as she stared at the awful tattoo on his back. She glanced down at the small laser in her hand and pressed the small button on the bottom of it. She stepped closer to him and pressed her empty hand on his back. Heat seared her hand but she ignored it as she lifted the laser to his back.

The red glare from the laser touched his back. The top part of the P disappeared as she moved the laser back and forth smoothly. A light pink tint was left in the laser's wake as she continued to move the laser to the twenty numbers crossing his lower back.

"Almost done," Taira informed him and Kole nodded his head. The procedure didn't hurt him at all but the feel of her hand caressing down his back was pure torture. Heat pooled in his lower regions and it puzzled him. He was facing the wall and she didn't see the frown on his face. Or the way his manhood began to harden. He mentally muttered a few chosen words he'd heard some of the other prisoners use during their stay at Hazen.

Taira finished the last letter on his back. She took her hand off of him and stepped away from him. She looked over his back making sure there was no trace of the tattoo remaining. "Stay there," she commanded softly as she turned the laser off and placed it back in the crate and began to rummage through other crates until she found a bottle of moisturizer. She poured a small amount into the palm of her hand as she walked toward Kole then rubbed the moisturizer onto his back.

Kole titled his head forward and let out a deep sigh as her hands caressed over his overheated back. His body hardened even more and he groaned as he closed his eyes. She patted his back and stepped away from him. "Are you all right? Does your back hurt from the laser procedure?" Taira asked as her green eyes roamed over his bare back. Kole snorted as he turned and walked out of the tent, leaving a bewildered Taira staring at his retreating back.
