Ray stood in the hallway, heart beating rabbit-fast, sweat welling from his pores. Dressed only in his underwear, he gripped the handle of the knife he'd taken from the butcher block in the kitchen, and listened.
He had heard a noise, a middle-of-the-night, someone's-broken-in and is-in-my house noise. He was sure of it!
