After she left, Thomas stared at Martin as if he'd never seen him before. Martin was the best of all lovers? This was an aspect of the man he'd never known about. On the estate Martin kept to himself, not aligning with anyone; but out here there seemed to be no end of women interested in him.
He leaned over. "Martin, how many women have you bedded?" Martin picked up his tankard and took a deep drink; the first time Thomas had ever seen him do more than sip his ale. Convulsively, he swallowed, then slammed the tankard back down onto the table. He glared and snapped, "Thomas, I'm afraid I never really felt the need to keep track. More than enough and I'll say no more about it. It's a private thing, you know."
