One Week Later...Kelly laughs, low and darkly, as he leans back in his chair and props his feet on the desk. Only five percent of his attention is on the monitor; the rest is for the woman on the other end of the phone line. A click and a hum break his concentration and his lashes lift. His hand clenches on the phone and his feet hit the floor. "Tia, I have to call you back; something has definitely come up." There's a pause, one of those stinging ones, before she responds with a sultry Italian promise and everything's all right again. Kelly repeats the phrase, mangling the pronunciation but not the intent. He tosses the phone aside and his fingers fly over the keyboard, driving the mouse in tail-chasing circles. Schematics and rosters, diagrams and reports flash past as he delves through the file structure the code-breaking program reveals on the memory stick. Maudit. That's an all too familiar document type and title. With trembling fingers, Kelly clicks it open, scrolls past the logo and into the text proper of a seventeen-year old Council report. Kelly sits back and drags his hand over his face, clenches his teeth. His head lifts as he notices the music for the first time. Leaving the chair spinning, he strides from the lab and barrels up the back stairs and into the long gallery they use as a training room ringing with the sounds of Evermore. Kelly grabs the remote, snaps the music off. Josh drags his torso off the thick mats to look up and around. Scarlet halts her victory dance and her hands land on her hips, stretching her holy-to-to-the-point-of-sacred t-shirt tight. She glares. "Where in Hades did you get that memory stick?" Kelly enunciates, quite calmly considering the rattle of his heart against his ribs. Scarlet's brows crease. Josh wipes his face on his sleeve. "Was that from the vampires and those poisonous Gara things?" "Garan." Kelly sags. "Great. When?" "Last week," Scarlet says warily, unpicking the knot of the bandanna keeping her hair under control. "Saturday night?"
