"What?" Adelaide jumped up. "You wouldn't!" "I would, and you can't do anything about it. Just try to prove it." Adelaide trembled. "Well?" Carol asked. Adelaide leaned forward and looked her coldly in the face. "So be it. Do your worst. I'm not going do something I think is very wrong just to make my life easier!" She strode angrily to the door. "You'll regret this!" Carol threatened. * * * *Adelaide rushed home and put on the blue dress. She ran up to the mirror, and to her pleasure, Edith appeared, smiling. "Edith, I have great news for you!" "What is it?" "You're going to love this." "My dear Adele, please tell me! I own I can hardly wait a moment longer, for I also have news for you!" "Okay, here it is. I know where your husband is!" Edith gasped and paled. "Edith, isn't this great!" She didn't respond, and Adelaide frowned, concerned by her friend's lack of expressing joy. "Edith?" Edith trembled. "I remarried."
