"He writes about real people ... who know the sticky-finger horror of things. Awesome...let me tell you, this Arnzen guy makes you shudder. Undoubtedly, Arnzen will be a heavyweight to contend with in future days."--American Book Review

7:35pm Beep. "Oh Julie, will you please pick up the phone! I know you're there! C'mon! "WE HAVE TO GO RIGHT NOW! I'm in big trouble here. Bob finally came to. I held his gun on him, and he told me some pretty wild stories. He told me that he lied again. And this time I'm starting to believe him! He said that he killed you when he found out that you were going to the Bahamas with me. He said that you were cheating on him. He said that you were his, not mine. He said that he was sorry, and begged to take him to the cops and turn him in. But that wasn't good enough for me. I'm so stupid. I must be really drunk, 'cause I believed the things he was saying. After all, you haven't been home for the past one hundred times that I've tried to call you! "I shot him, Julie. I killed Bob. It was an accident, I swear! I was just so damned drunk, and pissed, and sick of Bob's line of bull that I pulled the trigger. "But I'm sober now. The sound of a gun going off in your own hand brings you back to reality real quick. Bob's dead, so we have to go NOW! I know that you're still alive. I know Bob didn't kill you. He doesn't have the guts. And I don't believe a word that he said. So I'll meet you at the airport. Leave right away!" Click.
