"Danni, come here to me." His hoarse whisper filled the silence and shivers played involuntarily up and down her spine. He reached for her and bent to kiss her. In the semi-darkness, the sand dune and jungle background echoed the soft shush of the waves outside their hideaway. She looked at him, feeling as if she might drown in the sea-green of his eyes.
He had confided in her, told her things he had never told anyone before. He must love her! Blood raced through her veins, a warm feeling of longing spread across her midsection in waves--feelings she had never known before.
She flicked her tongue nervously over her dry lips and before she could move back, he had captured it with his lips on hers. From that kiss, he began kissing her throat, working downward slowly. Every touch of his lips left a trail of fire. "I want you so much." He groaned and pulled her closer to his hard body. For a long moment she lay still, nestled against his chest, listening to his heart thudding in her ear. He put his leg over her hips and now she felt the heat in her thigh, and couldn't feel where one body began and another ended.
"I've wanted to possess you since the first time I saw you," he murmured into her neck.
She wanted to return his ardor, more than anything she had ever wanted in the world, but something held her back, in spite of her demanding body. She waited for words of love, but they never came.
